with all premium car fresheners, where there is fragrance oil being used, it's vital that any spills that may occur during charging or driving, are cleaning up immediately.  The combination of Fragrance Oil and carrier oil, can result in irreversible damage to plastic, such as dashboards.

Do not remove the string from the air freshener, even if you decide to use the clip.  The string helps prevent spills from the lid, without it, spills will occur more often.
